It’s getting tougher for me to justify the Gold when I can get 5% back often. At least one quarter per year, Freedom Flex has a grocery category. Same thing for my Discover it. And the other two quarters of the year, I can use the Customer Cash. So, I can pretty easily get 5% a year all year. Same story on restaurants. And none of those cards have an annual fee. The 4% plus annual fee isn’t stacking up well against 5% and no annual fee.

I really want to apply for this card I think I have a decent chance with making 130K and 816 CS

Great Video RD!! Quick Question: If 2 traders open identical 1 standard lot and 1 person has 1:2 leverage whilst another has 1:1000 leverage. Trade goes out-of-the money by 100 pips and both close their positions, who loses more? or do they both lose $1000 since both positions sizes were identical.

Wow you totally swung and missed with your attempt to tear down the Platinum card. That entire segment can be summed up with "I dont know how to use these credits so lets hate on Amex" I get at least $1000 of value from the Platinum annually. If youre not breaking even or coming out ahead, youre not trying. These cards arent for you but that has no bearing on how well it works for others.

definitely some good points. i actually hadnt thought about the gold card changes in terms of the credits i use. last year i only used $100 of the dining credit + $50 amex offers, but no uber cash. So my effective AF was $150. Now with the changes, assuming i use another $100 on the dining credit (which will be easier for me with 5 guys) + at leaset 1 resy credit for $50 (live in DFW so i have some options) + at least $70 for dunkins (there is 1 next to my barber so i usually stop by there 1 per mth anyhow)= $325 - $220 = new effective AF of $105 assuming 0 amex promo offers.. Thus, im better off with the changes. not to mention i use the hell out of that 4x grocery category 🙂

I use Amex preferred for 6% for groceries and 3% for dining and travel + Costco for gas 4%

I looooooove me platinum card because I travel quite a bit and able to use almost every benefits that come with the card so it still works for me but I can see why this isn’t a good card for folks that don’t travel much since it has very little earnings categories other than travel related expenses. You are entitled to use $200 hotel credit for one night tho. Not 2 night minimum stay. I think that is for gold card.

I prefer my Marriott brilliant over my platinum.

Great refresh for me. My annual fee just kicked in and I already got a coffee and donut at dunkin for 6.82. I live in the OC where I can definitely get value from the RESY credit. Great review of the card!

The only thing I can't use where I live is Resy. There are probably 10 locations and I am not going to go out of my way to go to one of the location however, I do travel at least 3 times per year. I will use the resy credit in Miami in November. I am not mad about the refresh!

Literally a coupon book. I couldn't use them at all in Asia and barely in Europe. Amex travel portal has price inflation and transferring points to Delta now has a fee. Bilt 3x dining with transfer partners to United and Hyatt with no annual fee. And the Bilt travel portal itself you get 25% more for points so 3.75x on dining. Also the Citi custom cash 5% for groceries. Capital One Venture X is my catch all for 2x and I get airport lounge access at Denver airport and their lounge network is growing too.

Grabbed mine at $250 AF no loss for me! ✊💳

My AMEX Gold card renews in August. Does that mean I’m locked in at $250 until next year? Also, do the Resy benefits start on July 1st and the next one on January 1st, 2025? Thanks for any feedback and info…

Quick question: Is there no support credit card for the Venture? You didn't mention a card for it in the Level 2: Intermediate stage. I know Capital One has the Savor one, but I mostly see it paired with the Venture X, could the Savor One be paired with the Venture? I'm currently in college and I don't think I travel enough or can swing the annual fee for a premium card like the Venture X just yet, thanks so much!

Cell phone insurance only works if you have a postpaid phone plan. Which is usually more than twice the prepaid plans. That's how they get you. You probably will pay much less if you purchase phone insurance separately and get better service. So it's worthless to me. I just use a Chase free card for my bill for the Insuramce

hotel credit is not complicated at all, same with uber. very easy to use. airline credit if u have too much luggage and need an extra luggage for $.

the entertainment fee is great, netflix europe counts

a neat thing about the CSP is that at year end, they give you a 0.1% match, so your restaurant spend is effectively 3.1% (vs let's say 3% of savorone and 3% of the chase freedom flex during non category quarters)

You need a better card for groceries. Amex Blue Cash Preferred gives 6% for grocery stores with $95 annual fee. Citi Custom Cash gives 5% in top spend category that includes grocery stores up to $500 spend per month. However, Walmart groceries might be an issue since it probably doesn't code as a grocery store.

Interesting. I signed up for the Fidelity 2% Rewards card in May of this year and got a $150 Sign-up Bonus (15,000 points). They also are giving me 0% on purchases for 12 months, $0 Annual fee, Zero fraud liability, no foreign transaction fees on international purchases, Roadside dispatch. Not to menthon a nice set of Travel perks: Luxury hotel collection (Reserved for Visa Signature cardmembers, this set of benefits is designed to help ensure guests have an unparalleled experience). Car rental benefits and savings, Travel and Emergency Assistance, Travel accident insurance, Lost luggage Reimbursement. The above is pretty much verbatim from the included brochure and the online rewards section. There are also offers and perks that come from various merchants. Unless something changed from when you got the card or you just didn't know some of these benefits existed, this is what Fidelity is offering now. So, I'm glad you didn't cancel this card. This card is awesome! I've already allocated a portion of my rewards to an Index fund I have with them since they also have this as a feature (or perk).
